I like to make stuff that engages and entertains, for myself as well as clients (that stuff is on the ’work’ tab).

I find novel ways of using tech. The iOS/Android apps below do unique things such as - growing flowers as a metaphor/infographic of your wellbeing as you ‘grow’ through a personal development course; let you race a car against your friends with your eyes closed; turn your phone into a toy plane that uses the accelerometer to make the plane sounds; and help you reach a state of calm through interaction with an immersive lightning storm (coming autumn 2022).

And to satisfy my copywriter/art director urges I’ve published a children’s picture book. It’s rather poetic and sets a young fish in a sparkling world, a story of courage and togetherness for Kids 3-6ish.

Hummm

Hummm uses the power of humming to trigger the Parasympathetic Nervous System to help users reach a place of calm.
I made Hummm because it works rather differently from other mental health apps, and ‘different’ always interests me.
It’s generates an interactive immersive soundscape, it even uses the device flash to generate lightning as thunder storms pass overhead.
Since the app is sound based and you do it with your eyes closed, it was less a writing and design thing
and more a deep dive into 3D sound design and logic to create Hummm’s interactive soundscape.
Hummm is free and available for iOS and Android.

LEFT IS RIGHT book

Written and illustrated by me (and the help of a friend who inspired me with a delightful outline of a fish).
It’s a poetic play on words to tickle young minds (not a socialist manifesto!).

Powerflower is a wellness app with social sharing marketing strategy.
Powerflower is a ‘personal development tamagotchi’ in the form of a beautiful flower.
The flower you grow is both an infographic of your progress and a metaphor for your delicate wellbeing.
And each Powerflower is unique. So it’s personal enough to share, and pretty enough that your followers will engage.
I made Powerflower with the help a super clever developer and a very good therapist (for the app, not me…)

iPHONE PILOT app

Iphone Pilot turns your phone into a toy plane that used the accelerometer to make the sounds.
You can even download wings to stick on! Silly multiplayer mayhem, but no longer available in the App Store (is a very old idea, but still a good ‘un). Chocks away!
